"If an aphorism is a well-edited novel, then a dot is a well-edited aphorism."

S. Sidorov (Lit. newspaper. 2001. N 19-20).

In the literature devoted to the study of small comic genres, a joking aphorism is mentioned, which is defined as "a concise statement of generalized content, characterized by a collision in one context of concepts between which unexpected semantic connections arise that are not noticed as a result of a logical view of things" (Shchurina Yu. V. Speech genres of the comic / / Genres of speech: Collection of scientific articles. Saratov, 1999, p. 152).

Currently, this small comic genre is widely distributed in Russian-language newspapers, but its popularity is limited.-

the geography and specifics of functioning in this area remain unexplored. In this article, we will give only a brief description of the varieties of humorous aphorism that exist in newspaper texts "on the rights" of autonomous statements.

A humorous maxim (a maxim is "a type of aphorism, a short generally significant utterance, mainly of moral content, in an expressive or imperative form." - Literary Encyclopedia. p. 375): "Modesty adorns, but leaves the hungry" (Your Dodyr. 2001. N 23); " The salt of life is that it is not sugar "(Your Dodyr. 2001. N 51);" In the life of every person there may come a time when any paper becomes valuable " (Kome. truth. 2000. July 16); "To know your own worth, you must sell yourself" (AIF. 2000. N 3); "You can take everything from life only from others" (Lit. gazeta. 2001. N 19-20); "Love your neighbor, but do not forget to embrace the distant in a kindred way" (Lit. gazeta. 2001. N 48).

Since it is considered that the aphoristic genres of maxims and maxims "differ in their theoretical and practical orientation, require consent or execution, contain a conclusion or prescription" (Literary Encyclopedia, p. 43), the last three of the above examples can be considered joking maxims.

A genre that is close to a joking maxim, even a variation of it, can be considered joking advice (compared to the maxim, it is not so imperative), which is characterized by predicates with the meaning of motivation, most often expressed by verbs of the imperative mood: "If you don't like your reflection in the mirror, be glad that you at least have it!" (Your Dodyr. 2001. N 28); "If you are very afraid to get fat, drink 50 grams of cognac before eating - it dulls the feeling of fear" (Komsomolskaya Pravda. 2001. 14 Dec.); "Don't work hard, raising your standard of living" (AIF. 2001. N 26); "Love people, and there will be more of them" (AiF. 2001. N 30); " Iron against the wool-shed! "(Lit.newspaper. 2001. N 19-20).

Joking slogans that partially use the form of their non-joking "brothers" are right next to the joking advice: "Keep your money in savings bucks" (Your Dodyr. 2001. N 35); " Boys and girls, master each other "(Komsomolskaya Pravda. 2001. N24-25); "Follow the right cursor, comrades!" (AiF. 2001. N 24); " Let's strike with platonic love for venereal diseases!" (AiF. 2001. N 12), etc.

Humorous proverbs are one of the most common small comic genres in a modern newspaper. They are formed by a sharp shift in the structure and semantics of proto - proverbs (proverbs-bases). For example: "What you dare, you will shake" (Coma. truth. 2001. N 24-25) - What you sow, you will also reap. "Debt

page 49

"terrible" (AiF. 2001. N 27) - The debt is red as a payment. "If you like to ride the Zaporozhets, you can also fix Mercedes cars!" truth. 2001 (June 15-22) - If you like to ride, you can also drive a sled. "One head is good, but with the body-better "(Your Dodyr. 2001. N 28) - One head is good, but two are better', "They meet you by your clothes, but they see you off like a mu-mu" (Your Dodyr. 2001. N 35) - They meet you by your clothes, they see you off by your mind; "There is no such thing as a holy place with a bust" (Your Dodyr. 2001. April 2-8) - A holy place is never empty.

Such expressions, despite their comic effect, are not without some generalizing and sometimes instructive meaning.

Similar to humorous proverbs in the mechanism of comic winged expressions of the predicative type, for example: "A person is created for happiness, like a bird for broth "(Your Dodyr. 2001. N 36) - A person is created for happiness, like a bird for flight; "If the mountain does not go to Mahomet, then Moses paid more." 2001. N 18) - If the mountain does not go to Mahomet, then Mahomet goes to the mountain; "I came, I saw, move away-let others see "(Your Dodyr. 2001. N 21) - Came, saw, won.

It should be noted that newspapers also use humorous transformations of various stable expressions of the non-predicative type, such as the names of movies, literary works, and paintings, as autonomous (context-independent) statements, i.e. as an independent comic speech genre: "And the zombies here are quiet "(Your Dodyr. 2001. N 35) - And the dawns here are quiet (movie title); "Three people in a boat, not shy about the dog "(Your Dodyr. 2001. N 18) - Three men in a boat, not counting the dog (title of the story by Jerome K. Jerome); "Painting" Girl with wings" "(Lit. newspaper. 2001. January 31-February 6) - A girl with peaches (title of the painting by V. Serov), etc.

Such humorous phrases do not express a judgment, are devoid of generalizing meaning, and therefore cannot be considered as a kind of humorous aphorism.

In accordance with the logical structure of the definition itself, a joking definition (definition) contains a word or phrase that denotes the defined concept, or a phrase (or combination of words) that is used to make the definition (by indicating the genus and specific difference). A humorous definition, being an imitation of the external form of a "normal" definition, is devoid of logical meaning to the same extent that it has comic content, which can be reinforced by the inclusion of tropes and figures in the statements of this genre. For example:

page 50

"Public finance is the art of passing money from hand to hand until it disappears" (AiF. 2000. N 32); "A sober person is a drunk who has had a good night's sleep" (Your Dodyr. 2001. N 17); "Brevity-the sister of talent and mother-in-law of fee" (Tvoy Dodyr. 2001. February 26 - March 4); "An insurance agent is a person who wishes us good after evil" (Your Dodyr. 2001. N 28); "A democrat is a scoundrel who believes that the Communists made him so" (Your Dodyr. 2001. N 18); " Mirror is a means of communication with an intelligent person "(Tvoy Dodyr. 2001. N 51); "Teacher's salary is a revenge of politicians for a poisoned childhood" (AiF. 2001. N 44).

It is believed that the paradox "as a kind of wit belongs to the sphere of aphorism and acquires the properties of the comic" (Literary Encyclopedia, p. 267). The comic effect of a humorous paradox is based on the logical incompatibility of the concepts and judgments combined in it. For example: "You may be right, but the truth is dearer to me" (Lit. newspaper. 2001. January 31-February 6); " Life is a dangerous thing. But if you die in time, many diseases can be avoided "(Lit. gazeta. 2001. N 19-20); "In a fair fight, the crook always wins" (AIF. 2000. N 5); "A man chases a woman until she catches him" (AIF. 2001. N 32); "Fools learn from their own mistakes, and smart ones learn from others'. So smart people learn from fools?" (AiF. 2001. N 17).

On the periphery of aphorism is a genre sometimes called gregeria. One of its definitions states that "this is a witty expression similar to an aphorism, a paradox, a winged word, but without their main distinctive properties: as an aphorism-without its serious thematic orientation, as a winged word-without its obligatory connection with the text of the work, as a paradox-without its divergence from the general opinion (...): "It's not boring to be silent with an interesting person", "Strong characters differ from each other in their weaknesses", "Look at the root", "There was a lot of fire in it, but the head still did not cook" "(Aphorisms / Comp. T. G. Nichiporovich. Minsk, 1999, p. 12). The above description does not give grounds to exclude gregoria from the list of aphoristic genres, since it preserves, although not as consistently as in the main types of aphorism, such important constitutive features as brevity, generalization of content and, in part, didacticism. With appropriate signs, high-frequency humorous greggery is recorded in newspaper texts. For example: "When there is nothing to eat, it doesn't matter which hand holds the fork and knife." 2001. N 48); " Waiting for a holiday is better than its consequences "(Tvoy Dodyr. 2001. February 26 - March 4); "You can look at three things endlessly: how the fire burns, how the water pours, and how the accountant issues a salary" (Coma. truth. 2001. N 158); " Any car will last for the rest of your life, if you drive enough

page 51

famously" (Lump. 2001. 12-18 Apr.); "Counting other people's money is indecent, but your own money is not interesting" (AiF. 2001. N 7); "The law is fair, but you can't put everyone in jail" (AiF. 2001. N 4); " If it didn't work out the first time, then skydiving is not for you... "(Your Dodyr. 2001. April 2-8).

Perhaps the most distant position from the center of the aphoristic field is occupied by joking newspaper headlines of the aphoristic type. According to their genre characteristics, they can coincide with any of the listed types of comic aphorism (most often-with a joking maxim, a joking gregeria, a joking proverb, a joking catch phrase), but they are united by a special place and a specific function (title) in the newspaper text. Without necessarily being instructive in content, they resemble apophegma (an instructive utterance that has an author and is related to a specific situation) by their "inclusion" in a specific text, while maintaining relative semantic independence. For example: "That's what the mother-in-law is for, so that the son-in-law doesn't doze off" (AiF. 2000. N 46 - title of the article about the role and relationships of family members); "Normal heroes always go around" (Komsomolskaya Pravda 2001, January 17-headline of an article about car sales taxes); "The less we know about the laws, the more they "love" us " (Novaya Gazeta. 2000. January 31-February 3-title of a publication directed against judicial arbitrariness).

Thus, a joking aphorism in the newspaper appears as a speech hypergenre, stratified into many subgenres. All types of humorous aphorisms are characterized by creating a comic effect with the help of such complex artistic and rhetorical techniques as parody, detachment, and deceived expectations. As for the more specific language technique of the comic, it is so diverse in humorous aphorisms of various types that it deserves special coverage.
